Deforestación

La deforestación es uno de los problemas sociales contemporáneos más apremiantes que debe abordarse con urgencia. Las cifras son alarmantes: entre 2001 y 2021, las imágenes satelitales han documentado un total de 8,942 hectáreas de áreas protegidas que han sido objeto de deforestación.

En la región protegida de Cayambe-Coca, donde desarrollamos nuestro proyecto, ha habido varios casos de áreas protegidas que han sido ignoradas, poniendo en peligro inmenso a bosques y especies en peligro de extinción. Esta destrucción ha afectado directamente a las comunidades indígenas de la zona, particularmente a los A'i Cofán. Ha habido una deforestación desenfrenada de su territorio ancestral, con ganaderos destruyendo 25 acres de selva tropical intacta, según reportes de Amazon Frontlines. Es precisamente por esta realidad que nuestro proyecto de reforestación en PRCC cobra mayor importancia. Cada árbol que plantamos representa un paso hacia la recuperación de estos ecosistemas vitales y el respeto hacia las comunidades que han protegido estas tierras por generaciones.

Deforestation

Deforestation is one of the most pressing contemporary social problems that must be addressed urgently. The figures are alarming: between 2001 and 2021, satellite images have documented a total of 8,942 hectares of protected areas that have been subject to deforestation.

In the protected region of Cayambe-Coca, where we develop our project, there have been several cases of protected areas that have been ignored, putting forests and endangered species in immense danger. This destruction has directly affected the indigenous communities of the area, particularly the A'i Cofán. There has been rampant deforestation of their ancestral territory, with ranchers destroying 25 acres of intact rainforest, according to reports from Amazon Frontlines. It is precisely because of this reality that our reforestation project at PRCC takes on greater importance. Each tree we plant represents a step toward the recovery of these vital ecosystems and respect for the communities that have protected these lands for generations.
