Day 1

On the first day of this project, we drove to a plant nursery near Sigsipamba with the purpose of acquiring trees endemic to the region to start the reforestation process in an ethical and conscientious manner.

We got 180 trees of different types:

• 60 alders

• 60 acacias

• 30 cedars

• 30 ajicillos

For our next visit to the nursery, we hope to get more variety, mainly species such as pumamaquis and polylepis.

To improve their chance of survival, we buy trees already in the process of growth instead of just seeds. These were already accustomed to the high elevation of Cayambe-Coca.

We carefully brought the trees to Sigsipamba and walk until we identify suitable sections to start the planting process. Additionally, we began digging holes for each tree.
