Upon arrival at the farm, we collected the trees and brought them to the desired place to plant. Over the course of the day, we managed to plant all the trees. Notwithstanding, we did encounter some unexpected difficulties. For instance, the varied size of the trees forced us to dig or fill many of the previously formed holes. This made the planting process longer as it was necessary to manipulate the holes so that the trees have their roots covered by soil while also having free access to the sun. Additionally, the grass in the section where we planted the trees was very tall, so it was decided to trim it to ensure that it does not impede access to the sun for these plants in the initial stages of growth. Despite these drawbacks, the planting process was relatively efficient, and we managed to accomplish our goal in about 10 hours total.
It is important to mention that in the planting process, we had the valuable help of an expert biologist in the region, who guided me and the rest of the members to ensure that the trees have the highest probability of survival. He also guided us with the proper distance between each tree, and recommended the grass trimming. For this, a special thanks to Didier Sanchez, Executive Director and Specialist in Management and Management of Protected Areas at ECOPAR for his great contribution to this project.
