Today we went up to the tree nursery and bought 150 trees in the following distribution:
-75 acacias
-75 alders
Despite the previous request for pumamaquis and polylepis, we were unable to find them again. It is evident that these species are sold less than alders and acacias, but we hope at some point to find a nursery that can give us the requested trees. Going up to Sigsipamba, we lowered the trees from the trunk and brought them to the designated planting area. Before starting the planting process, we trimmed a further section of grass and dug more holes for the trees. Additionally, we watered the trees with the hose connected to the river and realized that some trees were drying up.
This was something to be expected, however it was sad to see that not all the trees survived. Luckily, most of our trees were doing extremely well and seem to have enough recourses to grow to their full potential.
We only managed to plant some of the trees before it unexpectedly started to rain. However, we plan to plant the leftovers on our next visit.
Duration: 6 hours
Total Tree Count: 420 trees
